Members Spotlight

The Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania values every one of our members and the experiences they bring with them to our organization. We all do awesome work throughout the year and much of it goes unnoticed by a lot of people. Sometimes we feel we are doing a thankless job and may feel underappreciated, you are not!

Although we meet each other at PROP and other events throughout the year it’s rare if we actually have a chance to learn about each other, our experiences, and the awesome work we do on a daily basis.

The PROP Membership Committee has started spotlighting our members on a bi-monthly basis. Every two months we will spotlight 1 or 2 of PROP’s members on this webpage as well as our News Views and Opportunities newsletter.

Tell us about your PROP journey!

I think I've been a member since 2002 and originally joined because I knew nothing about recycling or waste management. I needed to find my people so I could learn from their experiences and knowledge. 

What has PROP membership meant to you both personally and professionally?

Over the years, PROP has evolved for my needs. Originally joining to learn and network about my new position with Dauphin County. To becoming a Board Member and working for PROP which provided me a greater understanding of how all the different players throughout the Commonwealth have different needs, and how collectively we can make a difference. The friendships that I've developed over 20 years through PROP's events and networking is undoubtedly my favorite thing about PROP at this stage in my career. I love seeing the familiar faces year after year and sharing relatable stories; and even more so, love meeting the newbies as well, since I remember being one myself. It's the kindness, familiarity, education and networking that makes PROP invaluable to me.

Describe a Fun Fact, Favorite Meal, and a Perfect Day outside of work would look like for you?

Describe a Perfect Day outside of work:  A perfect day outside of work would be on a cruise to any place in the Caribbean. I love getting up early and having coffee on the lido deck to watch the sunrise. Waste the day away doing absolutely nothing but relax with a peace of mind.
